Waratahs FC v Cowra - 21 May 2022

On Saturday Waratah FC took on the undefeated Cowra at Edgell Park.

The first half was a bit of an arm wrestle as both teams looked to take the ascendancy on a heavy pitch. Both teams created a couple of half chances with clear cut chances hard to come by.

The battle continued into the second half with Cowra beginning to look the more likely and midway through the half their energy provided a goal. This is exactly what Tahs needed and we quickly turned the game around with some high energy football.

Exemplified by young Aiden Bird on the RW. He may have a terrible hair cut but it definelty doesn't slow him down. With about 10 minutes remaining on the clock Tahs midfielder AJ Duffy showed some tenacity and determination to pounce on a loose ball in the Cowra penalty area and cooly slot it past the keeper.

Tahs maintained their pressure high up the pitch forcing a rushed clearance from the goal keeper. Matt Dower misdirected a header straight to Tahs flyer Zeke Miller who showed no mercy chipping the keeper from outside the box the secure a huge 3 points on the road for the Tahs. Aswell as bagging players player for the match.

AJ Duffy was the nuffy of the week. As shown in the picture below being carried from the field with cramp at the tender age of just 18. It's not a great look when you have players double his age in the team still playing. Even triple his age in Poms case!

Tahs next game is the local Waratahs derby vs United on Friday night. It would be great to get a few up their for what is sure to be a close and entertaining game.
